My research interests are in coastal and fluvial geomorphology, especially the Quaternary evolution of these environments. I am also interested in the records of palaeoenvironmental change -particularly of sea level - that can be derived from coastal and fluvial features and deposits. Recent research focuses on fringing and nearshore reef growth, mid-ocean reef growth, reef island morphodynamics and evolution, coral and foraminiferan-based records of Holocene sea-level change, and the geomorphology and sedimentology of tropical coastal environments.
Together with my colleagues Professor David Hopley and Kevin Parnell, I have co-authored a new book on the geomorphology of the Great Barrier Reef that has been published by Cambridge University Press. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS
