Research Interests
My main research interests are; the reproductive biology of marine and freshwater turtles, behaviour and physiology of marine and freshwater turtles and the conservation and management of Australian and South-east Asian turtle species. I am currently involved with the development of community based projects for the management of marine turtles and indigenous harvest in Torres Strait. This project aims to collect biological data from foraging populations such as sex ratios and breeding rates that can be used to strengthen management options for marine turtles in northern Australia. I am a member of the IUCN Marine Turtle Specialist Group and serve as a Regional Vice Co-Chair for the Australasia region. I have an active role in developing marine turtle conservation programs in Viet Nam and Malaysia. I am also actively involved with marine and freshwater turtle research in Queensland along side research staff from Queensland’s EPA.
