SEABIRDS

Seabirds are an important component of marine ecosystems but we have remarkably little information about their ecology and population structure. Current research being undertaken will provide important information about the environmental factors which influence the distribution of seabird rookeries on the Great Barrier Reef (link to Darren), the phylogeography of tern species (link to Emma & Anna) and impacts of human visitors on sea bird nesting sites (link to Emma). These projects will provide research that increases our capacity to effectively manage sea birds in the Great Barrier Reef region.
